In the wake of California's landmark decision to allow same-sex marriages which began on June 17, some are asking if there is a bias for or against in the way that the issue is covered by the mainstream media.

Personally I side with the guy in the lower-right corner of the screen. Gay marriage has been an issue, the economy is more of an issue at the moment and the media are just doing what they always do to cover whatever is newsworthy at the time!

Yeah, it was a bigger issue in 2004 when San Francisco and Massechussets both started gay marriages and everyone had the big debate about it. Since then, although conservatives like to say that allowing gays to get married will undermine the institution of marriage, when pressed, no-one can ever really explain how. Therefore the wind has gone out of the issue a great deal, the world hasn't fallen apart, and people have moved on.
The last argument conservatives have is that the majority of people oppose it, but that was the case with equal rights for blacks and women too and they got over it once the laws were passed and the world didn't fall apart.
