Last year, Texas man Joe Horn killed two men by shooting them in the back with a shotgun. They were attempting a burglary on his neighbour's property. He was on the phone to 911 and told the dispatcher he was going outside to shoot the men - the three shotgun blasts were heard on the recording. A Grand Jury investigation has acquitted Horn, finding that his actions were legal under Texas law.
The events that play out in a country with a constitutional right to bear arms are often baffling to those in a country with tight gun control laws like Australia.
