Thanks for the comment Sean, it's surprising how encouraging it can be to hear from someone else sharing a similar journey. I hear what you're saying about timeliness - it's amazing how much power the global consciousness network has when it gets into gear.

Cheers, Danu.

I've also started a blog quite recently, with much the same motivation as you. What really struck me was the effect of blogging on a timely subject. My hits had been hovering around the 20-60 mark, with my record day being 125 when I posted about Olympic medal tallies by population and GDP and the result was that for a couple of days my traffic soared to over 2,000 hits (mostly from Google searches). It's been falling again ever since, but I expected that.

It's a fascinating journey!

Hi Jamie,

If you recall, we did a link exchange a few months ago. When I saw your latest comment I checked your site again and it seems I had dropped off the list. I've trimmed my link list back considerably too, I only have about half a dozen of my favourite sites. If my plans change I'll let you know. In the meantime, good luck with the site :)

The theme I'm using is called Thesis. It's highly flexible and customisable but you have to pay for it.

By the way I checked out your blog - wow - I had no idea double-entry bookkeeping was invented by Leonardo Da Vinci's boyfriend! I'm almost certain there's a joke there somewhere but I'll leave it for someone else to find.

Hope this helps!

I would not be too ashamed to admit this! I must confess I find most of the party's platform repulsive, but at least they're organised about it and do what they say they will. Labor are a lot of hot air and factional in-fighting, basically Liberal-lite. Unfortunately we don't have a proper left-wing party, unless you count the Greens, who to be fair are becoming more serious about it all.

Personally I voted Democrat since I couldn't bring myself to support any of the others. Previously I have boycotted the whole thing in the lack of anyone worth supporting. As South Park says it's a choice between a turd and a giant douche.

Interestingly if you look at the Political Compass analysis you can see that the range of party platforms in Australia is very narrow indeed - http://www.politicalcompass.org/aus2007

Not sure if you were ever a civ fan (though thanks for burning it for me!!). However, every time you research a tech for your civ, Leonard Nimoy no-less cites a quote from history relating to the tech.

You might get some of your Sunday quotes from this list of them from now on!

*counting down the days until it's 'somewhat acceptable' to admit I voted for Johnny last election*...

Anyone with a brain knew the environmental 'promises' were hot air. Blind hope..

Not saying the libs had anything better on the environmental cards - they didn't. But for me, when it came down to it, libs had a proven economic record. Going with experience was worth it to me vs a government promising the earth (and only delivering a bunch of very symbolic promises so far..) with an almost identical economic policy. Might as well go with the people proven to execute said policy properly and with success.

Of course, I can't take this theory outside of the internet because I'll be beaten up by most people I know, but for me, government means economy first, and social reform second. By economy, I also mean incentives to help the environment, but lets not kid ourselves, neither the libs or labor were ever going to implement any significant environmental change...

Probably should stop ranting now. Better let people have the chance to say I hate aboriginals and gays and immigrants and trees! :D
